Review:
I was still quite hung up on Cold Case, really. So I substituted it with another crime dorama, this time produced for a local audience and with a hint of the supernatural. Oguri Shun does a wonderful job of portraying Ishikawa Ango, a newly transferred inspector who was lucky enough to catch a culprit by checking the perimeter of the crime scene. On his first assignment in his new department, he checks the perimeter again, hoping he'll be lucky again this time. And lucky, he was. He was attacked by the suspect and another character with a bullet to the head.
He somehow miraculously recovered with little damage, but he also had newfound powers: He could see the murder victims and speak to them about the circumstances of their deaths. Unfortunately, we have little development in terms of his supporting characters. We barely know their backgrounds, and we only know them from their interactions with Ango. Not that I don't love them, but I would have loved to know more about each of them, if they have any secrets they keep, or any darkness shrouding them.
Each episode is standalone, and is satisfying to watch, unless you don't count the episode where a culprit gets away because of daddy. Tsk. I could have punched my computer screen.
Its a wonderful series where you can see the main character's slow spiral to darkness, and gives you a hint why the title is BORDER. I don't want to spoil your fun, so go find out for yourself.
